Classes are held every Tuesday between 10.00 am to 12 noon. No need to book just turn up. £5.00 per session. Wear comfortable clothes.
The concept of the class was created from local community concerns that there was not much to promote the interests of the elderly or those with long term medical problems. This was taken up with the local Residents Association who suggested a fitness class with a difference would be an ideal activity to not only encourage wellbeing but also promote the Sir Philip Game Center.
Jillian Appleby (Morland Park Residents Association Chair), together with Keith Nicholas (Senior teacher of Seishin Ryu Budo) formulated a fitness program that allowed individual of all ages to participate. It is a low impact program that even people with serious health issues can perform without difficulty as each person works within the capabilities. The program includes meditation, balance, breathing and posture exercises. Also included is basic shiatsu and working with a variety of equipment with a lot of imagination and fun.
The actual session lasts only 1 hour but to promote community spirit the class ends with a social with refreshment so everyone can relax and chat which has proved to be successful combination. Eventually we hope that the fitness class will grow into a much larger concept to provide even more functions and opportunity to the community as a whole.
